The Pilot looked through his capsules monitor at the approaching Sansha ships. Three Frigates and One Destroyer. "This might get Dicey" he thought to himself.
Launching the only weapons he had on his ship, his three small scout drones, the Pilot hoped they would be enough and that his ship would not be so badly damaged that he would need to take it off station from the Asteroid Belt he was mining and get repairs. Targetting systems hummed as he locked on to the Sansha Raiders one by one.
45k, 40k, 37k here they come! 30k!!! His ship took fire from the nearest raider and his drones attacked. The other 3 ships came into range and began firing on him. The Pilot watched as his shield damage began to climb. His drones had almost finished off the first raider and his shields were holding above 50%, maybe he would make it.
The First Raider popped and his drones milled about uncertainly for a second, then another raider fired on him and they attacked it, the missile frigate that had stood off at 27k and fired on him good! His shields were now down to 38% and the Pilot was beginning to sweat. This run had been Lucrative and he'd found Kernite, he desperatly needed the isk it would bring him, his ship was old and the sub systems needed repairs, he didn't want to be forced to leave and loose this kernite to one of the large mining barges he knew were in the system.
POP, two down and his shields were at 12%. His drones went after the third raider and made surprisingly short work of it, it soon followed it's brothers into the void. The last raider orbited his ship and fired repeatedly, finishing off his shields and starting into his armor. His drones attacked it and he watched, still mining, hoping beyond hope that they would be able to kill the destroyer before he took too much more damage. Armor dropping to 80% and the Raider was repping itself almost as fast as his drones were damaging it. The pilot considered recalling his drones and running for a station.
Suddenly a mining barge warped into the asteroid belt. A Hulk class exhumer from the looks of it. He felt the hum of it's targetting systems against his ship and saw his ships response to the lockon in his hud. 5 drones suddenly launched from the exhumer and tore through space, attacking the pirate that was doing so much damage to his ship. In seconds the Sansha Raider was nothing more than a floating mass of jetsam.
The exhumers drones recalled and another drone launched from it, coming to his ship. The repair drone worked on the armor damage the pirate had done and soon he was fully repaired, his shields regenerating on their own.
He thanked the Exhumer pilot on the local channel for his timely aid. A quick o/ and the exhumer warped out of the belt, leaving him alone, alive and with his kernite still to mine.
The Pilot looked at the 4 wrecks of the Sansha Raiders. He knew a little about the history of the Sansha. He knew that these raiders were not much better than his drones. He was still glad he was alive and they were dead. Turning away, the Pilot scanned the asteroid belt again, seeking his next target. His ships targetting systems hummed as they locked on to the small piece of Kernite and his Mining Lasers glowed yellow/orange as they fired and he began to mine this new rock.
